About Weleda
. . .
Rooted
in the holistic spiritual philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the
fundamental principle of Weleda is to produce medicinal and body
care preparations based on the belief that human life is interwoven
with nature and the ideal that humans should therefore live in
harmony with nature. This pursuit of health without exploitation is
one of the central values of Weleda. These values are not a mere
marketing ploy, but an ideal and a way of life. There is nothing new
about the company's principles - they have been maintained since
1921 when Weleda was founded in Switzerland in consultation with
Rudolf Steiner. This was soon followed by the establishment of
Weleda in the UK in 1925. Today there are 26 Weleda companies
worldwide.
Weleda
medicines were developed by doctors to provide a further extension
to the conventional medicines available to them. Weleda has been
manufacturing medicines for over 70 years. A wide range of natural
skin care and body care products has also developed during this time
prepared without animal testing or cruelty. As with Weleda
medicines, their individual ingredients are selected for their
natural therapeutic properties. Today, traditional manufacturing
methods and ingredients go hand in hand with stringent quality
control and modern pharmaceutical technology.
