The
Cycle of the Seasons and the Seven Liberal Arts
Sergei O. Prokofieff
Translated by Richard Michell
The Cycle of the
Seasons and the Seven Liberal Arts: ‘The arts have always
been characterised by a strong element of community-building. We can
deepen and strengthen this impulse today by establishing a
connection between the various arts, the cycle of the seasons, and
its festivals. In this way the arts will increasingly be able to
unite human beings with their cosmic origin and contribute to the
central tasks of Anthroposophy . . . The great ideal of the
synthesis of science, art and religion, already prepared over the
centuries in the true Rosicrucian communities, can then increasingly
become a reality. As they work towards this ideal, human beings will
prepare themselves consciously to cross the threshold to the
spiritual world, not only as individual pupils of the spirit but as
an entire community. In the course of time, a community or
association will arise on the Earth that is in full harmony with the
cosmic-spiritual forces and is able to draw its power directly from
the cosmos, thus forming a cosmic gateway upon the Earth.’
