Prophecy
of the Russian Epic:
'How the Holy Mountains Released the Mighty Heroes
from their Rocky Caves'
With an Introduction to Anthroposophy
Sergei O. Prokofieff
Translated from Russian by Simon Blaxland de Lange
The prophetic Russian
epic, How the Holy Mountains Released the Mighty Russian Heroes
from their Rocky Caves, tells of a mighty spiritual battle for the
destiny of the Russian people, involving the powerful spiritual
beings of Christ, Mary-Sophia, the Archangel Michael, the Antichrist
and the terrible forces of the fallen hierarchies of evil.
The epic or bylina
describes three fearful trials which must be endured by the Russian
people. The overcoming of these trials would lead to a mastering of
those spiritual powers needed for the fulfillment of the Russian
people's future mission on behalf of human evolution, establishing a
kingdom of brotherly love, and spreading a new spiritual culture
throughout the Earth.
The spiritual science of Anthroposophy is required to understand the
bylina in its full spiritual depth and significance, suggests
Prokofieff. With the assistance of its insights, the bylina reveals
the whole historical path of Russia from the past, through the
present, and into the future. Thus we may understand not only the
supersensible forces and beings which have actually participated in
Russian history, but also its principal feature in the 20th century
—
Bolshevism and the demonic inspiration which lay behind it.
